Railway

Radley is on the main line between Didcot and Oxford and hence has good links to London, Reading, the West and the North.  The station is just behind the Bowyer Arms.

 

The service is provided by First Great Western.  Visit its website for details of

Radley is an unmanned station, though there is a telephone helpline.  It is well lit at night.   There is also plenty of car parking space.  People commute to Oxford and London from Radley and Abingdon. 

Access to both northbound and southbound platforms is from the Abingdon side only.

In Spring 2008 the station had a major overhaul.  The entrance has been tidied and it has all been resurfaced.  There is more car parking space and cycle racks.

Travellers with a recognised disability who are unable to use the footbridge to the southbound platform at Radley station can ask First Great Western to provide them with a taxi to take them to or from the 'nearest' station with suitable access facilities (Oxford or Didcot). This service will be provided at no extra cost provided an advance booking is made for the railway journey.

Friends of Radley Station

We are a voluntary group and our aim is to have a presence on the station at varying times, and to make it attractive and welcoming.  Further landscaping has been promised by First Great Western before we go ahead with any planting schemes, so initial planting is likely to be in tubs.  Other stations in the area which have 'Friends' are Charlbury and Heyford.  A visit to Heyford will be arranged in the near future to talk with their Friends and hopefully to benefit from their experience.  Besides the appearance of the station, the existence of Friends will benefit users in terms of our direct contact with First Great Western and with the rail transport officer of Oxfordshire County Council.  We aim to use these contacts to promote good service for rail travellers from Radley in the future.
