All of the moths on this page
are micro-moths, a somewhat arbitrary sub classification
of the moth family group. The micro-moths generally comprise
the families of small primitive moths and account for
about 1,500 of the 2,500 or so known British species.
Micro-moths breed in a wider variety of habitats than
macro-moths and most of the moths regarded as pests belong
to this family group.
