Radley in Pictures

A selection of images from 2009

February 2009

The snow may have caused problems for some, but, for others, it will always be a source of fun and amusement.

March 2009

An occasional sight in Radley is a steam train in transit to or from the Railway Centre at Didcot. This one is a GWR railtour drawn by 4-6-0 Castle class locomotive No 5043, "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" seen here passing through Radley on 29 March 2009 on its way to Didcot.

July 2009

Quite Exhausted.

This year's Radley Gardens Competition coincided with the end of Wimbledon fortnight. Some epic tennis matches and the recent very hot and humid weather evidently took their toll on players and gardeners alike!

Red Sky at Night, Shepherd's Delight.

The weather of Wimbledon fortnight was not, as it turned out, a foretaste of things to come. In the midst of a disappointing summer this spectacular sunset (photographed in mid July) was indeed foretelling better weather to come, ...only we were going to have to be patient.

While not exactly the "barbeque summer" that was promised, Radley did enjoy two months of largely dry and sunny weather starting at the end of August, just in time for the harvest, lasting throughout September and October, providing a welcome spell of comfortably enjoyable weather.
