Radley History Club

Radley History Club was founded by the late Miss Joy Alexander in May 1997 and now has some 55-60 members. Its tenth anniversary was celebrated with an exhibition in Radley Village Hall in May 2007 featuring all aspects of the history of Radley.

The Club meets on the second Monday evening of each month (apart from August) at 7.30 pm in the main hall of Radley Primary School. The Club organises a series of speakers on local and historical topics for its meetings. In July, a visit or tour of a local place of interest is often arranged. New members and guests are welcome.

The Club's aims are to:

  • study the history of Radley and the surrounding area
  • pursue any historical activity (including genealogical research) that the members may desire from time to time.

Visit the Club's website for more information or contact Christine Wootton (chairman) on
01235 202725.

The Club has an impressive archive of materials and maps about the Radley area in the past and the people who lived here. It is also building up a library of audio recordings of interviews with older residents telling their memories. A grant from Awards for All has greatly facilitated its work.

Book on the history of Radley Primary School
